Cow Above Daughter of Kamawa Keanu Kamawa Olinda Z30 Kamawa Santa Gertrudis Stud commenced operation as a registered Santa Gertrudis Stud in 1989, following the return to 'Wauchope House' the Wauchope, New South Wales property of Geoff Butler and family, following twenty years residence on their New Guinea plantation. The name Kamawa is the native name of the plantation house.
Kamawa specializes in producing early maturing, thick, muscly cattle, predominantly polled, to cater to domestic market producers and cross breeders of mainly British breed cattle.
To this end no expense has been spared in procuring top polled sires, including Kelly Wallah 347 (Breedplan trait leader for growth) bulls from Rosevale Stud including Chieftain T73 (Breedplan trait leader for eye muscle area),Rosevale Rippon W543, and Yarrawonga Lancer and in recent years Kuloomba 97 and Kamawa Centurion. In 2009 we added Talgai DJ a very quiet dark polled sire , and Macaire Yankee another thick muscly good temperament poll sire.
To set our type of cattle two young homebread sires , Kamawa Keanu by Rosevale Chieftain and Kamawa Lobo by Yarrawonga Lancer , have been used extensively in the herd since 2002. These sires display the quiet temperament Kamawa is known for, together with the fertility, muscle and high growth we wish to maintain. KEANU who won a first place ribbon at Sydney , is represented by 45 retained females in the Stud, two of which are displayed on this page, and another, show heifer Paris is on the Trading Post page.Kuloomba 97 was introduced in 2006. His calves are inheriting his totally placid temperament and some of his frame score 8 size. In 2008 we retained an outstanding poll Sire by Kamawa Keanu. He is Kamawa Centurion and is named for his maternal grand sire Big Sur Centurion. His dam Big Sur BH44 is a significant cow in the Santa Gertrudis Breed and we are using this top son of hers, Centurion, to spread her top genetics through the Kamawa herd.
